A 25-year-old New Britain man was charged with operating under the influence after he crashed into a Middletown police cruiser early Sunday, police said.
A 25-year-old New Britain man was charged with operating under the influence after he crashed into a Middletown police cruiser early Sunday, police said.
Christopher Griffiths, 25, struck a cruiser operated by Officer Patrick Kiely at the intersection of Washington and High streets around 12:50 a.m., police said. Kiely was stopped at a red light when Griffiths struck him from behind.
Kiely sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Middlesex Hospital, police said. Griffiths was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, operating with a suspended license and traveling too fast for conditions.
A passenger in Griffiths' Ford Focus, Rudy Lockhart, 24, of Bristol, was charged with possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana. Police said Lockhart sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Middlesex Hospital. Griffiths was not injured in the crash.
