Fleeing Driver Charged in Montville Crash That Killed Passenger

Nichols was charged with evasion of responsibility after fleeing the scene, state police said. He was held in custody on a $150,000 cash bond and is due in Norwich Superior Court on June 1.
A 28-year-old passenger was killed in a single-car collision on Interstate 395 in Montville early Sunday morning and the driver is facing charges after fleeing the crash site. Jamar Davis, 28, of Norwich, died in the crash. Driver Andre Roy Nichols, 25, of Norwich, lost control of the Hyundai Sonata he was driving with 5 passengers, while he was merging onto Route 2A. The car traveled across two lanes on Route 2A and hit a guardrail in the median. The car rolled over, coming to a stop on its roof.  Davis was pronounced deceased at the crash site. Four other passengers were taken to Backus Hospital. Sheganha Nicasia, 25, was seriously injured, Nakeema Williams, 28, of Norwich, suffered minor injuries. Keasia Y. Elliott, 21, of Norwich, was seriously injured, and Stephen Allen, 28, of Norwich, sustained minor injuries.
