Person killed by Amtrak train in Milford on May 9
A Washington-bound Amtrak Northeast Regional train has struck a person walking on the tracks just west of the Milford Metro-North station, a Metro-North spokesman said.
Trains continue to move through the area, but are delayed.
Milford, Amtrak and Metropolitan Transportation Authority police are on the scene investigating.
The train involved was the Amtrak No. 171, which left Boston at 8:15 a.m. and was due in Washington at 4:15 p.m.
The collision occurred about 10:57 a.m., according to an Amtrak spokesman. The 344 passengers on board the train were transferred to a Metro-North train, which will take them to Grand Central Terminal. Amtrak will then get them to Penn Station to resume their trips, the spokesman said.
