A 23-year-old Newington man has been arrested and charged in a fiery January crash that killed two women.

Damian Campanella of West Gate Road turned himself in to police in Newington on Sunday and was held on $100,000 bail for arraignment Monday in Superior Court in New Britain.
The crash happened on January 19, 2014 when two cars collided head on. Sonia Evans, 56, and Theresa Gunn, 43, were killed in the crash. Campanella was speeding and driving under the influence. The charges against him include manslaughter in the first degree, assault with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, and operating with a suspended license.
