A New York man has died and four others are injured in a four car crash in Stamford on Saturday morning. State Police say the person who died had been pulled over and was helping people whose car had broken down.
New York man killed helping motorist on I-95
The Advocate of Stamford reports that Derian Garaicoa-Ortega, of Glen Cove, New York, was helping a woman whose car broke down near exit 6 on Saturday.
Two vehicles had stopped on I-95 Southbound to help a disabled car, and three good samaritans and an occupant of the broken down vehicle were standing behind one of the cars. A vehicle traveling on the freeway crashed into the broken down car, and the impact injured 18-year-old Derian Garaicoa-Ortega. He was transported to a local hospital where he was declared dead. Three others suffered minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
