The crash occurred at about 11:35 a.m. June 14 on Wheatley’s Pond Road, east of Bryn Zion Road, near Smyrna. The police investigation showed the driver of a 2006 Toyota Highlander, identified as José Tuma-Aid, 75, of Hartly, was headed westbound when he fell asleep and drifted off the north edge of the road.
