Martha Prado, 37, killed, Berta Alicia Villafuerte, 27, Francisco Prado Garcia, 42, seriously injured, 4-year-old and 1-year-old suffer minor injuries, all taken to hospital, after a two-vehicle crash at an intersection on U.S. 27 near Clewiston.

Clewiston mother of two dies in U.S. 27 accident; driver arrested.
A young mother of two is dead and two others were seriously injured after a two-vehicle accident occurred on April 3.
At around 12:13 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded to an accident at the intersection of U.S. 27 and County Road 720.
According to a report released by FHP, a 2009 Nissan Murano was traveling eastbound on U.S. 27 near County Road 720 when it failed to see the 2004 Ford Explorer traveling in front of it. The Murano, driven by Berta Alicia Villafuerte, 27, of Moore Haven, reportedly tried to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting the SUV, which caused the front left side of the Murano to hit the right rear side of the Explorer.
As a result, it was reported that the Explorer began rotating counter clockwise ahead of the Murano, whose driver lost control of her vehicle, causing it to hit the right rear side of the Explorer a second time.
The Explorer overturned as it hit the grassy median separating the east and westbound lanes of U.S. 27, and came to a final rest on its roof, according to the report. The Murano reportedly overturned on the grassy median, as well, and came to final rest facing upright.
It was reported that the passenger in the Explorer, 37-year-old Martha Prado, of Clewiston, was ejected from the SUV as it overturned, and was pronounced dead on the scene before FHP arrived.
The driver of the Explorer, 42-year-old Francisco Prado Garcia, of Clewiston, was transported to Hendry Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Two other passengers in the Explorer, a four-year-old and a one-year-old, were also treated for minor injuries at Hendry Regional and Lee Memorial Hospital, respectively, according to the report.
Villafuerte, the driver of the Murano, was treated for serious injuries at Hendry Regional; the passenger of the Murano was also treated for minor injuries at Hendry Regional.
In an updated report released by FHP on April 4, it was reported that Berta Villafuerte was arrested and booked into the Glades County Jail for vehicular homicide on April 3. According to the report, the accident was not alcohol related.
