How Can Parents of an Injured Child Obtain Justice?

The state of Florida and most other states in the US legally recognizes any person under the age of 18 as a minor with respect to most legal matters. In cases of civil lawsuits involving personal injury and wrongful death, the law affords certain rights to parents and sometimes other family members. If a minor is seriously injured or killed in an accident and another party is found to be at fault, the minor’s parents typically have a right to sue for damages. Damages awarded to a parent often cover medical costs as well as lost lifetime earning potential in cases of permanent disability or death.
