Five people, including three children, were hurt in a crash in Arlington late Tuesday morning, according to Jacksonville police.

Five people, including three children, were hurt in a crash in Arlington late Tuesday morning, according to Jacksonville police.

The crash happened in the 8000 block of Galveston Avenue just before 11:30 a.m.

Police said everyone hurt was in stable condition at the scene and were taken to UF Health Jacksonville. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

The grandmother of the children hurt said according to her 22-year-old daughter and to witnesses, her daughter was driving 4 children after a dentist appointment when a man ran a stop sign on Galveston Avenue, crashing into their car. The children are aged 3, 5, 8 and 16-years-old.

Police talked to the driver, who said he stopped but then inched up and couldn't see the car coming. He said there were a lot of things in his line of sight, including trees, cars and trash cans. He said he also believes the woman was speeding.

The man, James Kennebrew, was cited for running a stop sign. He said he was sorry the family was hurt.

"I hope the baby is OK, I hope the whole family is OK, because everybody went to the hospital," he said.
