At least 1 killed in crash on U.S. 1 in St. Johns County

At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 1 North near Venetian Boulevard in St. Augustine Friday evening, authorities confirmed. Troopers were called to the scene just north of the Northeast Florida Regional Airport about 6:50 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. So far, one fatality has been reported. Northbound lanes of U.S. 1 were expected to remain shut down for some time, FHP dispatchers told Times-Union news partner First Coast News.

Driver identified after deadly SJC crash on U.S. 1

Investigators said Frisbie was traveling northbound on the inside lane of U.S. 1 and attempted to cross the lanes to travel southbound. Frisbie violated the right of way of a second vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Kayla Gordie.
