Wrong-way crash on U.S. 27 claims four lives

Investigators said Nathan Lee Wine, 27, of Delray Beach, was driving the Volvo southbound in the northbound inside lane of U.S. 27 when he hit the northbound Toyota. Toyota driver Hermis Ruiz, 67, of Clewiston, and passengers Daisy Zayas, 62, also of Clewiston, and Ines Zayas Pena, 63, of Havana, Cuba, were killed, according to the FHP. A passenger in the Toyota, Minerio Ruiz Torres, 69, also of Havana, survived the crash with serious injuries, the FHP said. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said Ruiz Torres was found wandering in a state of shock. "He was walking around and FHP brought him to our rescue unit as soon as they arrived," said Jachles.
