Runner, 80, struck and killed by vehicle that entered closed half-marathon course
Knockenhauer was taking part in the Sunday morning run when at 8:12 a.m. he was hit from behind while running east toward the beach in the 1700 block of East Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale police said.
The vehicle that hit Knockenhaeur was a black 2016 BMW that was traveling east on East Las Olas Boulevard, police said. The driver has not been identified.
