Around 1 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Northwest 87th Avenue and West 28th Avenue, a silver sedan was southbound on West 28th Avenue when it crossed over into the other direction and slammed into a tree. The impact was so severe that the car split in half. A 17-year-old woman riding in the passenger side was killed, while the 18-year-old male driver was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in unknown condition.
