Neighbors report that they were woken up by the loud crash.

17-year-old girl killed in Hialeah car crash

"They told me they were making a left, and when they were about to hit the minivan, the car lost control and started doing flips and hit the tree," Morgado said.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Northwest 87th Avenue and West 28th Avenue, a silver sedan was southbound on West 28th Avenue when it crossed over into the other direction and slammed into a tree. The impact was so severe that the car split in half. A 17-year-old woman riding in the passenger side was killed, while the 18-year-old male driver was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in unknown condition.
