Fatal crash shuts down westbound lanes of International Speedway Boulevard

Two people were killed in a head-on crash that shut down the westbound lanes of International Speedway Boulevard in the thick of rush hour traffic Friday, officials said.  

2 killed, 2 seriously injured in Volusia County head-on crash

Troopers said James lost control, crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes.

He crashed head-on into Pecunia’s Toyota Corolla, killing a 43-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man who were passengers in Pecunia’s car, an FHP report said.

Scott Ellis, 51, and Sherry Ellis, 43, were passengers in a 2015 Toyota driven by Luis Pecunia last Friday afternoon that was struck head-on by a Hyundai driven by Samuel James, according to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes.
