Police: 7-year-old boy struck crossing street in Longwood

A 7-year-old boy was struck by a pickup truck Saturday morning in Longwood, police said. The child was walking across East Wildmere Avenue near the intersection of East Street at 8:43 a.m. when he was hit by a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, police said. The boy was taken to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck was taken to South Seminole Hospital with chest pains, police said.
