According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at South Rio Grande Avenue and 24th Street just after 10:30 a.m.
Troopers said the Lynx bus was stopped at a bus stop northbound on Rio Grande Avenue in the right lane when it was struck from behind by a 2007 Nissan driven by 28-year-old Jethro Pierre, of Orlando.
Video a helicopter showed a red bumper wedged beneath the rear bumper of a green Lynx bus.
Five of the nine bus passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, FHP said.
Pierre, who was not injured, was ticketed for careless driving.
