Authorities said they did not suspect Brant of being impaired or distracted and no charges were filed. But an investigation is continuing.
Pedestrian dies in Auburndale crash
Deputies say neither distraction nor impairment on the part of the driver appear to be factors.
Robin O'Keefe, 28, was hit by a pickup truck and killed as she walked on U.S. 19 in Auburndale Wednesday night. around 10:15 p.m. She was hit by an eastbound white Ford F-150 whose driver, 57-year-old William Brant of Lakeland, did stop and render aid. Other motorists also assisted, but O'Keefe died at the scene. It has not yet been reported how the collision occurred.
