Authorities say a 68-year-old woman died after she was hit and run over by a van in the driveway of her North Port home.
According to police, Judith Ann Jellema has parked her Nissan Quest in the driveway about 6 p.m. Wednesday. A short time later she asked her 13-year-old granddaughter to move the van because it wasn't parked straight.
The Sarasota News Herald reports Jellema was standing next to the opened driver's door when the teen backed up the vehicle. Jellema was knocked to the ground.
A police report says the teen accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake and the van's front tire rolled over Jellema.
The woman was flown to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, where she died a short time later.
