Douglas Berube, 42, was airlifted by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg where he is listed in stable condition. According to a FHP report an altercation erupted at Silks Adult Entertainment establishment on US 19 North just before 3 am. Berube attempted to secure an individual involved in the skirmish but the man ran from the building. When Berube attempted to talk to him in the parking lot, the suspect jumped into a vehicle and intentionally ran him over the report states. The vehicle was last seen driving southbound on US 19.

"They came and wanted to drag me out of my window. Cursing, screaming what they wanted to do to me," said Ayyub. "I'm not sure about anybody else, but when your life is on the line, you're terrified for your own life, I don't know, somebody drags you out of your window, what do you think they're going to do to you next."
Berube was taken to the hospital with severe leg injuries. Jack Ayub, who hit Berube and left the scene claims that Berube and another man were threatening him and he acted in panic and self-defense. Originally planning to turn himself in, Ayub is now accusing Berube of a felony battery.
