St. Pete man in critical condition following scooter crash

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A semi-truck collided with a motor scooter on Gandy Boulevard Friday night, leaving one man in critical condition. According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the 55-year-old male victim was riding eastbound on Gandy Boulevard east of San Martin Boulevard on a scooter that did not have a functioning taillight at around 9:21 p.m. The driver of the semi-truck, James Alexander Dixon, 48, of Tampa, did not see the scooter and collided with the other vehicle. The victim was taken to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The identity of the victim was not release pending next-of-kin notification.
