The Honda left the road and struck a utility pole before colliding with a culvert, becoming airborne and striking a tree, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
A former Lancaster County woman was killed in a single-car crash early Monday in Florida.
Lisa Jane Newcomer, 35, of Pensacola, Florida, died after she lost control of her 2001 Honda Accord on U.S. Highway 41 in Spring Hill, about 45 miles north of Tampa., according to local media reports.
The Honda left the road and struck a utility pole before colliding with a culvert, becoming airborne and striking a tree, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Newcomer was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they are investigating if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Before moving to Florida, she worked at Lancaster General Hospital as a sterile processing technician, according to a former co-worker.
The colleague said Newcomer moved south about two years ago.
According to newspaper records, she was a 1997 graduate of Ephrata Senior High School.
