Tarpon Springs man dies in fatal crash

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. -- A fatal crash on Keystone Road near George Street South claimed the life of a 45-year-old man on Saturday. James Paul Wells, of Tarpon Springs, was a passenger in a GMC Sierra heading westbound on Keystone Road. Dunning's SUV traveled across the median and into the path of Dietz's GMC Sierra. Florida Highway Patrol reported that a Michigan driver, Rick Dunning, 58, lost control of his Chevy Tahoe while driving eastbound on Keystone Road around 5:35 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, Jane Elizabeth Dietz, 51, of New Port Richey suffered critical injuries and was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.

Man killed, 2 seriously injured in Tarpon Springs crash

A Tarpon Springs man was killed, and two other people were seriously injured in a crash on Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs on Saturday evening, authorities said. The Tahoe crossed over the grass median into the westbound lanes, where it collided almost head-on with a 1996 GMC Sierra pickup truck, troopers said. Dunning was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries, troopers said. The driver of the pickup, Jane Elizabeth Dietz, 51, of New Port Richey was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in critical condition. A passenger in the pickup, 45-year-old James Paul Wells, died at the scene.

I am the widow of JAMES PAUL WELLS who was KILLED by Rick Dunning ... Dunning has BAC .05 when blood was taken several hours after the accident happened.  Dunning was NOT Charged with DUI ... Nor was he charged with vechicular manslaughter!!!!!  He has NO Explanations for why he crossed a at least 50 feet median without any signs of EVEN trying to stop whatsoever!!!   He has feld back to MI.  ...... How does one get away free with BAC .05 eventho legal limit is .08 .... Dunning Killed my husband .  Our two sons lost a father and our 4 grandkids lost their gpa .. Dunning has suffered no consequences to this day!

Kelly Wells widow ... it would have been our 28yrs anniversary this passed June 17, 2017.

James Paul Wells was my father along with my older brother, Dustin Wells. After our father died the whole family fell apart. Rick Dunning the man who killed my father fled the scene. This man was never charged with DUI or Vehicular Manslaughter. I wake up every morning with no father to talk to or do things with. I know many kids may not have parents but Mr. Dunning was never charged for anything he committed. As James Wells' son I wish nothing more but for Mr. Dunning to do the years he deserves.
