Fog may have played role in crash with train that sent 3 people to hospital near Belle Glade.

Three people have been taken to the hospital after a crash involving a train and two vehicles in the 35500 block State Road 80 near Hatton Highway, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman Capt. Albert Borroto said.

Three people were hurt after two vehicles and a train hauling sugar cane were involved in a crash Tuesday morning, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The wreck occurred at about 8:17 a.m. in the 35500 block of State Route 80 near Hatton Highway.

When rescue crews arrived, one vehicle was still on the tracks and all railway traffic was stopped for safety.

Seven people were evaluated by firefighters, and three were transported to hospitals for further treatment.

One patient was transported to Lakeside Medical, and two were taken to Palms West, all with minor injuries.

Dense fog is in the area, so that may have contributed to the wreck, said officials.
