The driver of the blue Ford Explorer that crashed into a Lake Worth home this morning is in a local hospital and is facing criminal charges, according to a Palm Beach County sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Deputies suspect the man, whose name was not released, was impaired at the time of the crash. He also did not have a license.

The crash happened around 7:15 a.m. in the 500 block of South C Street, just east of Interstate 95 and just north of Sixth Avenue South.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews and Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene.

No one was injured but fire officials have taped off the home and are not allowing residents inside until the house has been examined by building officials.

Eric Mercado said he was sleeping in the home when the crash happened.
