Two Pompano women die in I-95 wrong-way crash in Martin County

Two women from Pompano Beach were killed in a fiery crash that was caused by a wrong-way driver along I-95 in Martin County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP has not yet identified the driver of the Jeep, but that person suffered critical injuries, the agency said. Saturday in the southbound lanes of I-95 near Mile Marker 107.5, southwest of Stuart. According to FHP, the driver of a 2006 Jeep Cherokee was going northbound in a southbound lane of the highway when he slammed into a 2007 Toyota Matrix. Upon impact, both vehicles caught fire, according to FHP. The driver of the Toyota, Brittany Musumeci, 23, and her passenger Alexis Musumeci, 24, both died at the scene, FHP said.

A man accused of driving the wrong-way on the highway and killing two Pompano Beach sisters was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. In all, Admerson Cleber Eugenio Vicente, 24, of Jupiter, faces six charges, among them two counts of DUI manslaughter, two counts of vehicular homicide and driving without a driver license. He was charged with a DUI in 2010 and twice accused of driving with a suspended license in 2014.
