1 dead in head-on collision on Roanoke Road in Troup County
The Georgia State Patrol and Troup County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal collision that happened about 5 a.m. Friday on Roanoke Road just west of Pyne Road.
According to Sgt. Stewart Smith, public information officer with the sheriff’s office, deputies were called out to the scene to assist state troopers with the wreck that involved a box truck — similar to a U-Haul.

Killed in the accident was George A. Yates, 72, a former LaGrange police chief. He was driving a 2006 Toyota Tacoma truck.
