Child in Effingham fatal wreck identified(link is external)

A Meldrim toddler has been identified as the child killed in an Oct. 19 Effingham County accident. The second child was not seriously injured, Wheeler said. The accident continues to be investigated by the Georgia State Patrol. Georgia State Patrol Trooper Colin Wheeler said the log truck was stopped in the roadway to turn into the log yard when hit by the Young’s car. Preston Alexander Young, aged 1 1/2, was killed when the Chevy Malibu his mother, Sandra Young, was driving struck the rear of a log truck on U.S. 80, near George Road.

Don White with the Effingham County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that 4-year-old Preston Alexander Young died in the crash. Georgia State Patrol troopers and Effingham County Sheriff's Office deputies responded and said three people were injured and taken to an area hospital.
