Woman arrested for negligent homicide following fatal accident in Kailua-Kona

A 47-year-old Kailua-Kona man and his passenger died in a three-vehicle collision Saturday evening along Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway on the Big Island.
A 23-year-old woman driving a 2014 Nissan Altima, was Heading south on Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway when she crossed the center line and side-swiped a Ford Fusion, then crashed head-on with a Honda CRF 250L motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 47-year-old  Rick Dupont. His passenger has not yet been identified. Dupont and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle. They were transported to Kona Community Hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.  The driver of the Nissan, 23-year-old Rebecca Vetter of Honolulu, was transported to Kona Community Hospital for treatment and was later arrested on suspicion of first-degree negligent homicide. The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old Kamuela woman, was released by medics at the crash site.
