Woman killed in Edwardsville car crash

Marilyn S. Clasen, 50, was killed in a three-vehicle crash about 6:57 a.m. Monday in the first block of Plum Street, officials said. Clasen, of the 1500 block of Grand Avenue in Edwardsville, who drove a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, died at the scene of head and neck injuries even though she was wearing a seat belt and the air bags deployed, according to the Madison County coroner's office.

Clasen, of the 1500 block of Grand Avenue in Edwardsville, who drove a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, died at the scene of head and neck injuries even though she was wearing a seat belt and the air bags deployed, according to the Madison County coroner's office. Police said the driver of a 2000 Ford SUV, Michael R. Heinemeier, 23, of the 200 block of Magnolia Street in Edwardsville, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officials said the southbound SUV crashed head-on into the minivan, and a 1998 Oldsmobile Alero struck the wreckage. Its driver, a juvenile, was not injured.
