Belleville Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash

A 42-year-old Belleville man - Keith D. Kunze - died in a single-vehicle fatal trash crash at 12:04 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at Mascoutah Avenue (Illinois-177) near Plum Hill School Road in the Mascoutah Township, St. Clair County.

Belleville man killed when car slides off icy road

State police said Kunze was approaching Plum Hill School Road, just east of Belleville, when his vehicle hit a patch of ice and spun out of control. The car crossed over Plum Hill School Road before hitting a ditch and overturning, police said.

Keith D. Kunze, 42, was traveling west on Mascoutah Avenue in a 2006 Mercedes-Benz S sedan just after midnight when he lost control due to icy conditions, a preliminary police investigation found.
