Victim ID'd in Fatal Accident on I-70

One person is dead and Illinois State Police are looking for the driver of a tractor-trailer who was involved in a three-vehicle accident early this morning on Interstate 70 in Madison County near Troy.

According to authorities, an Impala was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 when the driver lost control and swerved to the right then the left before being hit by a semi-truck.

Authorities are searching for a semi-truck after a deadly accident in the Metro East Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, an Impala was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 when the driver lost control and swerved to the right then the left before being hit by a semi-truck. The semi-truck left the scene without stopping.

After the first semi-truck hit the Impala, a second semi-truck which was carrying corn hit the car. After the second collision, the Impala went into a ravine while the semi-truck rolled over and was facing the wrong way.

Illinois State Police said the 20-year-old driver, later identified as Jacob Dey, of Brighton, Illinois, may have fallen asleep prior to the initial crash because he had just finished working an overnight shift at a fast food chain.

Dey was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred around 1:50 a.m. near mile marker 18 near Troy, Ill.
