Man critical after wrong-way head-on collision between SUV, semi on Route 83 near Elmhurst, Illinois

The SUV had crossed into oncoming traffic and the driver, a man in his 30s, was driving the wrong way on the highway when the collision occurred, according to fire officials and the DuPage County sheriff’s office.

The driver of the SUV was pinned inside the vehicle for about 40 minutes and had to be extricated, fire officials said.
