A southwest suburban man has been charged with DUI after a Bridgeview man in his pickup truck was killed in a crash early Thursday on I-80 in Minooka.

Westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were shut down Thursday morning for several hours after a fatal crash in southwest suburban Minooka.

A fatal crash involving two pickups and a semi truck shut down the westbound lanes of I-80 for more than five hours in southwest suburban Minooka on Thursday morning.

The fatal crash happened Thursday morning on I-80 at mile marker 118, a Illinois State Trooper said in a statement.

All westbound lanes on I-80 were closed at Ridge Road around 6 a.m., Dorencz said. They reopened just before 11. Traffic was diverted to U.S. Route 6 to the south and Route 52 to the north, police said.

One person, later identified as Rafal Szczepanik 26, was killed in the crash that happened around 6 a.m., and three others had to be extricated from the car , according to unconfirmed dispatch reports.

Jaroslaw W. Mietus 28, was injured and later arrested for aggravated DUI.
