Two hurt in crash near Mundelein

Two people were hurt, one critically, in an auto crash near Mundelein on Monday morning. That driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries, authorities said. The accident happened about 11 a.m. when a semitrailer truck collided with an SUV near the intersection of Gilmer Road and Route 176. Firefighters from Grayslake Mundelein and Wauconda assisted Countryside on the scene. The Lake County sheriff's office is investigating the crash.

Police believe each vehicle only had one occupant. Covelli said Route 176 is closed for a 2-mile stretch between Schank Avenue and Hawley Street.
