Sunday, August 30, 2015Jacqueline Martinez, 19, from Mendota was killed after four people were hit by a vehicle that fled the collision scene in Bureau County, Illinois. Martinez was walking with a 17-year-old boy and two other juveniles when they were hit on a farm road in a rural area of Leepertown Township at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday. Martinez was pronounced deceased at a Spring Valley hospital. Two of her companions were treated for minor injuries and released. The 17-year-old sustained serious injuries, and he was taken to a hospital in Peoria where he is in critical condition.
