Teen killed in hit-and-run crash near Scales Mound; authorities seek tips on truck that fled (link is external)
Authorities said a vehicle traveling north on North Pea Ridge Road sideswiped a parked vehicle and the victim, who was standing outside of the vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene following the collision.
Search for truck continues after fatal hit and run in Jo Daviess County (link is external)
As of Sunday morning, authorities say they are looking for a 1997-2003 Ford F150 that is blue or teal in color. The truck would have damage to the driver side and front side. Anyone with information on this crash or the truck is asked to call the Jo Daviess Sheriff’s Department at 815-777-2141 or Crime Stoppers at 800-747-0117.

UPDATE: Authorities have identified the victim of the hit-and-run as 17-year-old Alex Boelk, of Apple River, Ill.
Authorities also said they are interviewing a person of interest in the case.
