One dead after early morning car crash on U.S. 24
The Adams County Sheriff's Office says one man is dead following a car crash Friday morning on U.S. 24 near Fowler.
Sheriff Brent Fischer says Jerry L. Robbins, 66, of Fowler, Illinois, was eastbound when he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle driven by Bryan W. Dralle, 51, of Coatsburg.
Fischer says Robbins crossed the center line to avoid two cars parked on the side of the road. Dralle's car rolled to the north side of the ride and struck one of those vehicles, driven by Christopher J. Gandara.
Dralle and Robbins were pulled from their vehicles by crews from the Central Adams and Clayton fire departments.
Robbins was transported by ambulance to Blessing Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Dralle was taken to Blessing Hospital by Air Evac with serious injuries.
Dralle's passenger, Helen E. Vahle, 52, of Coatsburg, Illinois, was also injured and was taken to Blessing Hospital with moderate injuries.
Gandara was not injured.
