Five people injured in two-vehicle accident near Freeport

FREEPORT — A Freeport man reportedly under the influence of drugs triggered a two-vehicle accident that sent five people to hospitals Friday night. The accident occurred about 6:15 p.m. on U.S. 20 near Yellow Creek Road. Stephenson County Sheriff's deputies said Daniel Rucker was driving a gray Dodge Intrepid eastbound on U.S. 20 when he lost control, crossed the center line and struck a full-size Dodge Ram pickup. Rucker was flown by helicopter from the scene to Rockford Memorial Hospital. His condition was not released.
