Ogle County authorities identify men killed in motorcycle wreck

Zimmerman was riding a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Route 64. Gonzalez and his passenger were riding the Kawasaki west on Route 64 when Gonzalez entered the eastbound lanes in an attempt to pass westbound traffic.

The sheriff's department says Zimmerman's motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Illinois 64 when Gonzalez's westbound motorcycle moved into the eastbound lane.

The Ogle County Sheriff's Department says two men have died after their motorcycles collided on a highway.

The sheriff's office on Monday identified the victims as 50-year old Michael Gonzalez of Chicago and 67-year-old Richard Zimmerman of Lanark (LAN'-ahrk). Officials say a woman riding on Gonzalez's motorcycles was also seriously injured in the crash Sunday in northern Illinois. She was taken by helicopter to a Rockford medical center and officials said she was in critical condition.

The sheriff's department says Zimmerman's motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Illinois 64 when Gonzalez's westbound motorcycle moved into the eastbound lane.

The men were pronounced dead at the scene.
