Teens killed in Riverside bridge crash identified

Rockford Police Department officers said the vehicle was not being pursued when it crashed. Firefighters had to cut off the roof of the vehicle to extricate the passengers.

Associate Judge Donna Honzel said Rankins must serve 85 percent of the sentence, or 18 years, eight months and 12 days. But he also will receive credit for 626 days already spent jailed. 

The two teenagers killed Tuesday in a collision on the Riverside Boulevard bridge have been identified as Devonte Boose, 17, and Kewan Nappier, 18. They were among five occupants of a stolen blue Dodge Avenger that crashed about 7 a.m. when the vehicle collided with a bridge abutment and rolled over. The three other occupants were injured, one of them critically.
