1 Man Is Dead, 2 Others In The Hospital After Crashing Into A Tree

ROCKFORD (WIFR) - One person is dead, two others in the hospital after crashing a car into a tree on Rockford's East Side early this morning. Illinois State Police say around 2:30a.m. they saw a car driving South when they tried to pull the car over. Winnebago County Sheriff's Office says around 2:50am an officer found that same car crashed into a tree at the intersection of Spring Creek and Hillcrest. Police say the car was driving West on Spring Creek when it crashed into the tree. Police say there were three people inside the car, 1 man has died and the two other people were sent to the hospital.

Rockford man killed in stolen vehicle crash identified

Authorities have identified a man who died at a local hospital after the vehicle he was in crashed following a police pursuit early today as Juan Lozano Jr., 23, of Rockford. Before the crash, an Illinois State Police trooper had terminated a pursuit of the vehicle. It had been reported stolen, police said.

Police: Alcohol a factor in fatal Rockford accident

Traver and the backseat passenger, a 17-year-old female Rockford resident, are being treated at a local hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries. Charges against Traver are pending, and the accident is still presently under investigation by the Rockford Police Department.
