Suburban musical theater favorite killed in Indiana crash

Yvon was en route to a rehearsal at the Theatre at the Centre in Indiana, when his car was struck by a semitrailer on Calumet Avenue, minutes from the theater said general manager Richard Friedman.

Yvon, of the 4400 block of North Troy Avenue and known professionally as Bernie, was headed to a rehearsal for a musical he had been appearing in at the Theatre at the Center in Munster, when the crash happened, the theater’s manager told the Tribune’s Chris Jones.

Yvon was going to appear in”Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,” which had been scheduled to open next week in Munster.
Yvon was on his way to rehearsal for Theatre at the Centre's production of the musical "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" when the accident happened. Bernard Yvon, 50, died shortly after the crash at Calumet and Broadmoor avenues in Munster. Munster police were called about 10 a.m. and found a white 2007 semi-trailer on top of a gray, four-door Toyota. Yvon, the driver of the Toyota, was dead when rescuers arrived. The truck is believed to have been traveling north on Calumet as the southbound Toyota tried to turn left to eastbound Broadmoor.
