The bus pushed the Trailblazer back into the southbound lane, where it was then struck by a Chevrolet Cobalt. 
An off-duty police officer died in a crash Monday afternoon in Wabash County, which involved three vehicles on State Road 15. David Rigney, 39, of LaFontaine, was headed south in an SUV on State Road 15 near 5394 South. He hit an icy spot in the road and fishtailed into the northbound lane of State Road 15. A northbound school bus hit the driver’s side door of the SUV, which then hit a car driven by Cassandra Pyles, 29, of Marion. She was not hurt in the crash. Rigney, an officer with the North Manchester Police Department, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were 39 children on the Metropolitan School District of Wabash County bus. The driver, 55-year-old Daniel Dale of Wabash was not injured, but some children complained of pain. Paramedics evaluated them out at the scene and none were taken to a hospital.
