19-year-old killed in Carroll County crash

Sheriff Tobe Leazenby said Taylor Mars of Rochester crossed the center line of State Road 29 and hit a semi head on. The crash happened just before 1 a.m. at the intersection with County Road 250 North. Leazenby said Mars was wearing a seatbelt but was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver, 59-year-old Dennis Nickell of Ohio, was not hurt.

The semi, pulling a tanker trailer loaded with food byproduct, was driven by 59-year-old Dennis Nickell Sr. of Mount Sterling, Ohio. He was taken to an area hospital, treated and released, Leazenby said.

Rochester woman dies in early morning Carroll County crash

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 12:56 a.m., deputies and emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of State Road 29 and County Road 250 N northeast of Flora for the head-on collision involving a 2008 Ford Focus and a 2014 Peterbuilt semi-tractor trailer.
