Mother killed, two small children rescued in firey crash

Other motorists stopped and attempted to use fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Five extinguishers were used, but it was not until the fire department arrived that the blaze was finally put out. 
A crash in Owen County has claimed the life of a mother, Jamie L. Luthe, and injured her two children on Wednesday night. The accident occured around 8:20 p.m. on October 22 when the woman fell asleep while driving on US 231 near Deer Run Drive when she suddenly woke up and overcorrected, causing the car to roll into oncoming traffic. Her vehicle was struck by an oncoming vehicle, and caused it to catch fire on the side of the road, and she died at the scene. Witnesses attempted to put the fire out, but were unsuccessful until the fire department arrived. Two young children in car seats were rescued from the vehicle and flown to a local hospital. Allen R. Davidson, the driver of the other vehicle, and his passenger Karla Hinkel were also both taken to the hospital. The condition of the children is unkonwn at this time.
