Cheryl Neilson, 68, was struck and killed by a passing motorist while leaving her disabled vehicle on Highway 61 in Clinton County, Iowa

The Iowa State Patrol says the incident occurred at approximately 5:25pm on Highway 61 South at the 148 mile marker. A 2020 Ford Escape was disabled on the side of the road, and the two occupants exited the vehicle. 68-year-old Cheryl Neilson of Delmar was in the traveled portion of the highway when a 2012 Chevy truck driven by 19-year-old Lucas Albertson of Maquoketa struck her and the Escape.
