One Killed in Jo Daviess Co. Crash.
Jo Daviess County officers now releasing the name of the man killed in a three-vehicle accident late Friday night.
They say James Jones, of Fulton, Illinois, died after trying to pass another car in a "no passing zone" and hitting a semi head on.
The 60-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It happened around 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Galena Ridge Drive and Highway 20 in rural Stockton.
The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office says one vehicle was traveling east on Highway 20 when the driver, James Jones, tried to pass another vehicle, driven by Connie Bailey of Stockton, Illinois, in a no passing zone.
The male driver in the first vehicle then struck a semi truck, driven by Pantoja Gonzalez of Chicago, head on.
Bailey was transported by helicopter to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. We have no word on her condition at this hour.
Gonzalez was transported to Midwest Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
