Sgt. Nate Ludwig, with the Iowa State Patrol, said the police officer was responding to a call with lights and sirens on when he crashed into a pickup that was heading west on Southeast Third Street near U.S. Bank, 305 S. Ankeny Blvd. The officer was heading north on Highway 69 at the time of the crash.
