Police say the vehicle was being driven westbound on George Flagg Parkway when it left the roadway to the north. The vehicle returned to the roadway, crossing the eastbound lanes and then left the roadway to the south. It stopped as it struck a tree and then caught fire.
Police Release Names of Victims in Deadly Des Moines Crash
Police are continuing their investigation but said excessive speed and failure to maintain control seem to be contributing factors in the crash.
Police Identify Fourth Victim Killed in Des Moines Crash
Des Moines police said Tuesday that the Polk County Medical Examiners Office has identified the victim as 23-year-old Zachary McBride, of Weaver.
