A motorcyclist from Pennsylvania died in a freak accident on Interstate 80 near Atlantic in western Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says 39-year-old Andrew Joseph Engle, of Pittsburgh, died at the hospital in Atlantic, after the left rear tire of a westbound trailer being pulled by a Ford F-350 pickup driven by 40-year old Scott Edward Farmer, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, flew off the trailer and bounced into the eastbound lane of I-80, striking Engle in the upper body and head area.

The Council Bluffs Nonpareil reports that a wheel from a trailer being pulled by a westbound pickup came loose, bounced into the eastbound lanes of the interstate and hit the 39-year-old motorcyclist on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities say the wheel hit Andrew Engle, of Pittsburgh. Engle was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
